Formatting text and inserting images

Every longer text of a rallye is written in the same editor: the rallye description, each station description, each challenge's instructions, the heading of the tips popup and the organisation's legal texts. The editor shows the result right away, exactly as participants will see it.

The toolbar

ToolEffectShortcut
Boldhighlights a word or a sentenceCtrl + B
Italica light emphasis, for example foreign termsCtrl + I
Underlineuse sparingly, it looks like a linkCtrl + U
Headingsplits a longer text into sections
Numbered liststeps in a fixed order
Bullet listpoints of equal weight
Linkpoints to a web page, opens in a new tab
Imageplaces an image inside the text

Select the text first, then tap the tool. A second tap removes the formatting again.

Inserting an image

  1. Put the cursor where the image should go.
  2. Tap Insert image and choose a file. PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF up to 10 MB are accepted.
  3. Describe the image in one sentence. This description is required. It is read aloud to anyone who cannot see the image, and it is shown when the image does not load.
  4. Tap Insert.

The image is stored inside your organisation and served only to signed-in participants of the rallye. It cannot be linked from outside.

What makes a good image description

Say what the image shows and what it is for, not "image" or the file name. Example: "The town hall entrance with the red portal where the group starts."

What participants see

Participants see the formatted text with images in the station list, in the station view, on every challenge and in the tips popup. Images adapt to the screen width. Lists and tables show a short plain excerpt without formatting.

Multilingual texts

Each language has its own text with its own formatting and its own images. An image in the German version does not appear in the English one by itself. How the language tabs work is explained under Multilingual.

Texts written before the editor

Texts saved as plain text before the editor existed stay unchanged and keep their line breaks. As soon as you open and save such a text, it is converted into paragraphs.
